Located in the old city center, the Municipal Museum of Archeology is installed in the building where the City Hall used to be, until the end of the 80s.
With characteristics of the urban architecture of southern Portugal, the Museum has areas for study, conservation, restoration and storage of materials, in addition to a small thematic library.
The pieces on display are linked to the history of Albufeira, from its most remote origins to the 17th century, subdivided into four large nuclei; Prehistory, Roman Period, Islamic Period, Modern Age.
In the space you can see objects such as a Neolithic vase, a set of architectural elements and artifacts from the Roman Villa of Retorta, Morgado da Lameira necropolis and the Old Church of Albufeira, as well as some elements found in the city whose origin is unknown.
